Hello beloved friends and family! In case you are not familiar with our nicknames, this is Joe and Emily. This is Emily typing, by the way.
So some think blogging is presumptuous because basically it means you think people care enough about you to read what you write, and you can write about whatever the heck you want and have the audacity to assume people will read it. It's like, the writing version of Indie (independent) music. But I think of having a blog as living and breathing way of record-keeping,and a great way to keep in touch. I love reading other people's blogs! Not to mention my own personal reasons for wanting to blog: I got out of the habit of writing in my journal when I was in Germany because I was writing in my blog so much, but journal-writing didn't come back when I stopped.
*Quick disclaimer: I am extremely long-winded and wordy, so know that going into this...
Anyways, today I will kind of just introduce you to ourselves and catch you up to what's going on in our lives.
Joe (aka Rocko, short for Rockoholic) just had a birthday! I decided to be brave and get Joe tickets to his favorite band, playing live in Salt Lake next month. Why was this brave, you ask? Because I got a ticket for me to accompany him, and Chevelle is slightly harder rock than my normal tastes :) Joe is really loving his job right now (he works at a power supply company called Power Innovations) and is thoroughly enjoying his current project- redesigning the EVLRT. He just found a replacement for the bassist in his band, so the band is up and running again. There has been talk of a new and improved band name (stay tuned!!!) BYU is having it's annual Battle of the Bands this month, so they are planning in participating in that. He is gearing up for taking the ASVAB later this month, and his copy of "ASVAB for Dummies" is his constant companion.
I (Wren, which was my camp name when I was a counselor at Brighton Girls Camp last summer) am just in the full swing of school. I am taking some really fun English classes- American literature and Modern English language usage (I am an English major), as well as an art class. I am also on the Humanities College student council this year, which is a lot of work, but also a lot of fun and very fulfilling. I am still working at Charlotte Russe Clothing as a manager, and it is finally part-time (I had been working full-time hours all summer up until about 2 weeks ago).
We got to spend Conference weekend with my family in Lindon, which was very fun and relaxing. Also, we are coming up on our two month anniversary... which I can't believe. It feels like it has been at least 6 months. Not in a bad way, just because so much has happened and we keep so busy. We-- well, I guess I will just speak for myself-- I am loving married life and more importantly, being married to Joe. But more on that another day :)
Thanks for tuning in, and hopefully, I will have more exciting things to talk about in the future so this can be somewhat interesting and entertaining, and not just purely for documentation purposes...
Yay Wren! Very good to hear from you. Thanks for the updates.
